Thu Nov 20, 2025 2:48 pm Re: about the steam machine/gabecube Thu Nov 20, 2025 2:48 pm Re: about the steam machine/gabecube
why would you want a steam deck or steam machine (aka "GabeCube") when you have an excellent pc with steam on it?
some people don’t have an excellent gaming PC, or can’t afford one even if they wanted to, so the steam machine could be a godsend for them. but i don’t need one, personally - 1 Been thanked

Pretty sure it's not the first one (the others have closed due to monetization issues I think?) no AI rule is great though. Personally, I was never a fan of Vine or this kind of content in general. - 1 Been thanked

This does remind me, Microsoft seemed to have a hand with Sony Vaio as they appear quite frequently during the development on Windows Longhorn. - 1 Been thanked

Hello dwinterwolf!
:wavegreen:
Some of my favourite books so far are Watership Down, Harry Potter, Sherlock Holmes (I've read up to and including The Final Problem) and Warrior Cats (my judgement may change as I've only read the first 3 books of the first arc, still waiting for the last 3 to arrive).
Nice to meet you and I'm glad to see someone else here likes anthropomorphic fiction too, especially such a classic of the genre!
:sign_yeahthat:
I know, right? I mean, from the amount of times I've bumped into people talking about it online (and in group chats in COVID, RIP Google Hangouts) and the amount I play Animal Jam (which I forgot to mention, oops - I like some MMOs like the aforementioned Animal Jam and Club Penguin Legacy) where these roleplays used to be really prevalent... and where I got spoiled with that name ... I'm genuinely surprised I haven't read it before. I know I would've loved it as a child based on how dark Watership Down can get sometimes.
have you read guardians of gahoole? ive also heard its a good / similar series even though i only read the first book - 1 Been thanked

Fri Dec 26, 2025 11:38 am Hey, new here Fri Dec 26, 2025 11:38 am Hey, new here
Hey, I'm pengu1nsp0rk. I was semi-active on the brahkie forums if anyone here remembers that. I am just wandering around, decluttering my mind from all the 2020s slop, trying to go back to older forms of communication and reminiscing on the 2000s like everyone else and their mother.
I like playing Animal Crossing: Wild World on my 3DS, dabbling in webdev, playing retro games, listening to indie music, and doodling. :)
Also, I'm running Windows, regrettably. :epic: - 1 Been thanked

Btw I edited your thread title to add a content warning, next time please specify what the TW is about (here : TW close-up bug picture) instead of just don't look if you're squimish , not everybody in the forum is comfortable with bugs pictures, thanks for your understanding - 1 Been thanked

Sun Nov 16, 2025 3:37 pm living places Sun Nov 16, 2025 3:37 pm living places
village, town, city, or mixed?
what place are you more used to? what matches your life pace more? where do you wish to live? (realistically or not). ...and everything else you wish to share about this topic!
hello to fellow villagers and townfolk! :wavegreen: european village kid here.
lived half of my life (and most of my childhood) in the village, near small historical town (colonized, but at least some history left).
i feel at ease in the fields and forests, at the village roads. i used to soothe myself well with all of it. climbing up the trees, cyclings on the bike kilometers (miles) one way or the other - in familiar places or far far into the less explored. :yellow_bouncey:
we've had many Romani neighbors, and it taught me how important is the connection with one's roots and culture. it helps me immensely with my own reconnection now! (not Romani, but still). we were growing vegetables, and they were keeping farm animals, so we exchanged often.
i knew many (if not all!) village kids, and our adult neighbors always watched over us. we'd greeted each other if we'd stumble upon on the sidewalk, always.
even though i had a traumatic childhood (other reasons), i'm grateful for this particular village experience. nature helped me to survive, really. i had some air to breathe, some place to feel safe and free. i'd end badly without it for sure.
small (historical) town felt good too. i knew many corners of it, all the green parts of it (there are plenty of them!). i'd even walk it around from one end to the other sometimes (for 5-6 hours on the slow pace). quiet historical parts of it were comfortable to walk for hours without getting bored.
i moved to the big city (due to many reasons outside of my control), and i feel like i'm slowly dying here. there are the river, park and a small forest-like patch of land nearby, but... it feels artificial. :yellow_dead:
people are everywhere. stores and businesses are everywhere. cars are everywhere (thank gods part of the traffic is lighter because of the buses, trams and metro). noises, eyes, faces, asphalt, dust, artificial lights.
only after moving i realized how much i dislike the cities. ...not even dislike, i hate them. this pace is so overwhelming.
i hope one day i will move back. not to my village - it's barely possible, but somewhere else. i miss it all so much. :blue_sad:
P.S. will probably make a post for my website out of it lolz.
P.P.S. please don't doxx yourself. - 1 Been thanked

Possibly, but there's no reason they couldn't at least added drop shadows or subtle shading.jamesjaysinger wrote: Sun Nov 23, 2025 11:50 amSide by side, the first one looks terrible. The buttons are just as flat as they were before, apple didn't want to commit 100% to changing the design. Did they do this for performance reasons? - 1 Been thanked

Thu Nov 13, 2025 6:17 pm Re: (Help wanted) Working on Windows skinning program with Maelstrom Thu Nov 13, 2025 6:17 pm Re: (Help wanted) Working on Windows skinning program with Maelstrom
I (designer) and Maelstrom (developer) are working on a program that is intended to replace the Windows shell with a custom theme as shown below:
https://files.catbox.moe/8do82l.mp4
We plan to theme the taskbar, start menu, context menus, and notifications. At this time we do not plan the window buttons or programs such as file explorer.
Help wanted : Due to the effort needed, I am asking for devs that know Windows API, C/C++, and Qt/QtQuick/QML. Let me know if you can help, and I will DM you the contact info.
(also: it it against the rules to make a help wanted post?)
I know a fair amount of C and C++, and I can learn Qt if needed. - 1 Been thanked

Don't know how mainstream it is, but my go-to for VMs is always the Petz series. Yeah, I know I can run the games on my modern computer just fine. But it's still fun to have them around on older operating systems - 1 Been thanked
