I do take constructive criticism to heart but I didn't like the way that guy was acting bashing other people for liking a thing. Just too toxic behavior.xrossmediabar wrote: Sun Nov 09, 2025 2:26 amthis happened and its pretty awesome. so thanks to the op for being an annoying jerk igDaniele63 wrote: Mon Oct 27, 2025 5:38 pmThat aside, I'm gonna look into self-hosting and maybe get my own server, and learning PHP/MySQL for those things, because I see the advantages in doing those things.

yeah. to shame people because it's not "easy" for them to self-host is just stupid. and i'm saying this as someone who thinks self-hosting is a good thing. i also didn't like how that guy undermined daniele's coding skills just because he was hosting on neocities and proboards. like HE MADE A VIDEO PLAYER WEBPAGE THAT LOOKS LIKE A TV! THAT IS SO COOL AND IMPRESSIVE! and you're gonna act like he isn't trying to learn about coding just because he isn't self-hosted on day 1.xrossmediabar wrote: Sun Nov 09, 2025 2:40 amhe didnt give any constructive criticism at all he was straight up being a moronDaniele63 wrote: Sun Nov 09, 2025 2:39 amI do take constructive criticism to heart but I didn't like the way that guy was acting bashing other people for liking a thing. Restored this post as I figured out how to change the post author back to who it actually was (rave), though that means I had to remake his account.

Given that he showed screenshots from Reddit and gave NO constructive criticism about our like for the aesthetic, it looked more like a snark poster who was trying to "debate" for clout, or was debating for the sake of debating.
It was a good idea to ban 'im otherwise I was about to go on a full rant about how I lived through the era and completely understand why people saw (AND still see) the appeal of it to this day.
tl;dr of the rant: The aesthetic felt creative and refreshing (in my brain frutiger aqua is literally a glass of water and frutiger eco reminds me of my childhood in the park) and the deevolution into flat design just made room for oversimplification...

Yeah, his dislike of reddit was ironic, considering he was acting like just a capital r Redditor. He definitely just made this to feel superior more than to actually teach people.Cielos_Pasteles wrote: Fri Nov 28, 2025 2:59 amGiven that he showed screenshots from Reddit and gave NO constructive criticism about our like for the aesthetic, it looked more like a snark poster who was trying to "debate" for clout, or was debating for the sake of debating.
