This might mean memes like Meme Man, the Dancing Baby, and the Awesome Face () are also coming back!

Though, really obscure memes might not make it. Not until someone remembers them, but still.

But at the end of the day, we're getting Gandalf the Gray, Gandalf the White, Monty Python and the Holy Grail's Black Knight, etc!
I have Monty Python and the Holy Grail on DVD btw :)
I'm jealous haha, I need to see if my local thrift stores have them.

i haven’t heard much about this, but if it is true, and will be a large movement… then if i means i don’t have to see skibidi toilet, italian brainrot, roblox tik toks and AI slop anymore… sign me up

except ugandan knuckles. that meme should stay dead
i'm soooooo sick of all these new-gen garbage memes too! i miss when memes were made with photoshop or ms paint instead of churned out by AI programs

Not really related but I wish "cozy" memes/short videos would make a comeback (or maybe they're still thriving in a corner of the internet...)

I think the last time those were a thing was in 2021/22 with the "here comes the boy" meme and the tbh creature. It feels as if memes have become edgier since then.

Update: I saw the message at Melonland forum.melonland.net/index.php?topic=4422.msg42617#msg42617 about how many memes come from bad places on the internet and it does get me thinking about the origins of memes and if memes have gotten more offensive and worse since 2020? 2024? or so. Also, might be rose tinted glasses, but looking back at Lessons in Meme Culture, the memes from 2020 or so appeared to be much more varied in origin and less edgy/brainrotted overall.

It's an interesting idea, but I don't see it happening. I've never seen a meme "movement" succeed, and it's unlikely that one ever will. Memes are natural, and people only share them because they find them funny or interesting. Normals aren't interested in bringing back memes from before their time, and if this movement does have any significant traction it'll only be seen as annoying at best and a target for harassment campaigns at worst.
