Frutiger Aero content pet peeves

You know what's been getting me under my skin when I see people post Frutiger aero content online? The fact that most of it is aquatic. Don't get me wrong, frutiger aqua is cool but it's a bit overrated no? I grew up in this era and it may be bc I was so young but, I don't remember a lot of frutiger aero stuff being so aquatic, I remember it being a lot more eco and skeuomorphic. Skeuomorphism is my favorite part of frutiger aero, that junk is my JAM, how companies made some of their apps look like irl objects to convey what app it is or ui that resembles irl objects such as that one old ios app with the bookshelf ui, I love that! I also remember loving the old Samsung weather widget as a kid and how it showed irl pictures to match with the current weather  It is why I'm glad The Frutiger Aero Archive shows all kinds of sides of Frutiger Aero, not just aqua.

Also, how many times are they going to repeat low quality LEASE from My Merry May... that VN has a whole soundtrack bro (and it's great)...

Yeah, I agree as someone who also grew up during the 2000s. I remember seeing more wallpapers with trees, grass and leaves from that era than water. Plus I tend to prefer regular photography of nature for wallpapers over stuff that's a bunch of images edited together, but that's more my personal taste if anything. I think the only reason more people don't make skeuomorphic icon edits is requires a bit more skill. Since you have to consider things like lighting & shading.

I feel kind of the same! When I was browsing default windows wallpapers, my favorites were the nature photography type such as the iconic Bliss wallpaper or the autumn leaves from Windows 7. I like this wallpaper from old samsung which was like these water ripples but I liked it because it felt peaceful rather than how aquatic it was. Also I totally understand the skeuomorphic part, it takes real graphic design wizards to design good ones lol



Also I think something Frutiger aero that I don't see a lot of talk about are those aurora like images like the windows vista wallpaper. Those kind of images are my absolute favorite

I dislike the reddit community, its pretty corny, and at sometimes makes me feel embarrassed to like the design. The endless "buy this dropshipped product from skeuoss" and "blast lease remix #32768" discourages me.

You are right, there is much more than aqua, lease, and the endless photoshopped stock image combos.
