so I was just in some Discord server and somebody just send this tiktok video: www.tiktok.com/t/ZTMqUrsxc/ and this is why I don't like tiktok frutiger aero videos and also tiktok too...
in this video as you can guess there's Windows 11 themed with look of Windows 7 and you may ask what's the problem ginger? well they used something called windowblinds and also Windows 11 and this makes me just disgusted
first of all why Windows 11? this is bad OS to customize no seriously do not try to customize Windows 11 it is nightmare!!!
second of all why windowblinds this software is disgusting not only waste your memory as well as performance and also it's paid but also some programs may not be customized correctly like browsers where there is no aero support at all (e.g firefox, chrome) and I remember some full screen programs didn't want to work with windowblinds like Roblox it would just glitch out or not allow you to exit full screen and also this is just a waste of money!
and also taskbar looks ugly and doesn't look like Windows 7 at all and also explorer icon is still Windows 11... also they did not change the branding so it's still Windows 11 Task manager as well as Explorer it's still Windows 11 that doesn't look like Windows 7 at all!!! and also tray icons do not look like Windows 7 they still look like Windows 11
I of course do not like this kind of video because this is just Nostalgia bait / frutiger aero slop / or even nostalgia slop!

yeah i'm kinda getting tired of the more low effort nostalgia bait videos i don't think the taskbar looks too bad tho, but i have more of an issue with the file explorer tab not being themed anyone who wants to watch the video without an account, you can use offtiktok just be sure to copy paste the actual video link and not the redirect one

i bet half those people making nostalgia vids for the 80s don't even know what miami vice is & are probably just basing their perspective on stranger things i also disagree with the "nothing bad happened ever" sentiment. every era had bad things. you just weren't aware of them because either you were a kid back then or your history teacher sucked

I'll second this with a rant of my own. Maybe it's just me, but it feels like a weird nostalgia thing for the 80s is going on. I also noticed weird gaps of knowledge for those nostalgic people but it was more subtle than Miami Vice. Really weird, like people who said they were kids then but never heard of famous cartoons/toys like Rainbow Brite/Strawberry Shortcake or Popples, or adults who've never heard of prime-time shows like Hunter or Dallas.
If you didn't grow up in the US, I understand, but that wasn't the case in the few instance I've run across. IMO, it just seems like a bunch of Zoomers or late Millenials are claiming to be "nostalgic" about an era they never existed in. That's not nostalgia, that's anemoia (www.sciencefocus.com/the-human-body/anemoia-nostalgia).

for me it's less about whether or not their nostalgia is real and more the fact that they aren't willing to go outside their comfort zone and actually explore things from that era. this in spite of the fact that a lot of old shows are on free streaming & thus doesn't even require much "effort" to find

Quoted for truth! Media is so extremely easy to find these days it's insane. A VHS with a pilot for Computer Warriors was super hard to find back in the day since the toy line didn't take off back in 1989, but the video is trivially easy to find these days.
