What do you guys think the near future will look like? Will it be worse or better than now? I personally think it'll be worse with surveillance more and more invasive, tech such as smartphones becoming more of a requirement to do basic things, corpos becoming less consumer friendly, global warming, stuff like that.
i try to be optimistic about the future. sometimes it seems like hope and kindness are mocked as âchildish and naïveâ, but darn it all, iâm still holding on to it. as big tech companies get more and more invasive of peopleâs privacy, more environmentally destructive, more money-hungry, and more exploitative of child labor, i have hope that people will come together, say âenough is enoughâ and do something about it. but what they will do is the big question

Same thing. I wish more FOSS projects reach what Blender and Godot have achieved, for a start.
To be honest I haven't asked myself that question since at least 10 years ago, now that I think about it I can't get a clear picture in my mind about the near-future of the internet/tech, everyday a lot of news are published (ex: new AI, new CPU without silicon, vulnerabilities found on windows, apple taking inspiration in aero for new designs, linux gains popularity, ea bans linux, etc.) just so much stuff or variables that now that I think about it it's impossible to try to imagine, of course that if you consider the near future as the next 5 years.
sometimes i wonder what will happen in the future but i'm not sure. i hope the ai bubble will burst, but not in the way the dot com bubble did where it comes back around & we aren't prepared to deal with the consequences, but in the sense it stays dead or at least it has more regulations in place. i also think linux's usage will only increase very slowly and gradually because that's been the trend for years. anyone who genuinely believes "2025 is the year of the linux desktop" is lying to themselves

Honestly, I don't think ai is getting as far as people think in the near future cuz big ai companies like openai and Boston Dynamics are losing alot of money.

true. the only reason i have my doubts is i wonder if i only think that because of my echo chamber. but you're right because even the people who use it seem to hate it
i have no idea :P in my pov tho! i believe it'll be either a complete distopia or a just more advanced today standards society idk if we'll have a truly more advanced stuff now but it is possible who knows am right? ( ˶` ᵠ´˶ )
