Imperfection
I was thinking about aesthetics and pictures and such, when I realized the importance of imperfection. What sparked my thought was when I was trying to combine two images into one and the lighting and resolutions didn't match quite right, but I still liked the picture and thought it looked nice despite the fact that you could notice they were two images combined. That reminded me of the various backgrounds on older windows versions that weren't quite perfect but still loved by all. That made me start comparing it to today's society and their view on imperfection and how if there's something slightly wrong with your creation (Post, photography, art, game, ect.) they won't like ANY of it. And that got me wondering: "Why do so many people struggle to appreciate things due to the slightest imperfections?" I figured it may just be me and my abnormal perspective (Because usually I'm the weird one), but I want to test others' more perfect perspectives nonetheless. So is it really just me who likes imperfect creations, or do you all see the same things I see in imperfections as well? Please let me know, and thank you for your time.

Re: Imperfection
may be weird to admit but i think 100% perfect things are BORING. imperfect things make them more real, this applies to today's minimalist style for me btw.

If I am correct, a lot of the text on this site is inconsistently shadowed.

Re: Imperfection
I think when things look too "clinical", they end up being boring because of lack of personality.
In the photography world you have the resurgence of film photography because a lot of people are not really happy with how "perfect" a digital picture looks, you even have Fujifilm digital cameras which adds JPEG filters that add things like noise, colors that replicate film, etc.
I think there's a balance that you need to reach between flawed and perfect, no matter what the medium is. But yeah it can depend.
And the proboards posts that are glitched are people who used different fonts, I guess we didn't see it when we transferred it over but It's easy to edit the message to fix it and one day I might just go back and read all the old posts to fix them.

I'm aware some of the styling is not perfect but it rarely is from day one with any of my projects, as for the smilies being different I could have added only yellows for more consistency but it's more fun the way that it is now in my opinion.Vaking Voda wrote: Mon Dec 15, 2025 11:50 pmIf I am correct, a lot of the text on this site is inconsistently shadowed.

and to answer the OP’s question, yeah, i hate “perfectionism”, because “perfect” is the most subjective opinion of all time. so, i have strived to create the most imperfect art ever. not as in “make bad art on purpose”, but to not obsess over every detail, nor be so self-critical

Re: Imperfection
sometimes if a thing looks too perfect i lose a bit of interest in it. Not completely. but if you're gonna make a perfect thing and you're not gonna stop until it's perfect it'll kinda lose my interest
i Like pointing out silly details. i dont Care if its not perfect. i don't Care if your game isn't the best one and wins all the game awards nominations if i find it good then it's good. and i also find jank funny. stuff like the really bouncy walls in a part of half life 1. zandronum bots getting stuck on the slightest details. silly animation errors like the one in invader zim where there were supposed to be loud cars but they just. Werent there. a part of a phineas and ferb episode where they forgot to close doof's mouth so his va just kept stretching it out until it stopped. That. That are things i like a lot.

Re: Imperfection
I blame cringe culture.

Thats what makes sites so fun. The different art styles and choices everyone has. It was always so inconsistent considering the fact it was always just some friends or guy who cooked up a sites. Its about the vibes.Vaking Voda wrote: Mon Dec 15, 2025 11:50 pmIf I am correct, a lot of the text on this site is inconsistently shadowed.
