What do you guys think makes Frutiger Aero Music sound like Frutiger Aero?
There really isn't a defining genre for it, it seems to either be like DnB, some form of jazz or another genre I don't know name of
A few things that seem to a commonality is slow/medium pace and reverb?

Synths and Midtempo though yeah, I think also "natural" instruments like guitar as well?
That's true, though i do wonder how a frutiger song would sound if it were tensemikom1ne wrote: Sun Nov 09, 2025 2:47 amthe calming nature of it ig

Re: What makes Frutiger Aero Music Frutiger Aero?
After hearing some songs on the global opinion and validation of some songs as an anthem for frutiger aero. I will have to say, music that sounds almost like hold music on a phone or elevator music. Like the others have said, it is calm, slow and feels airy and somewhat ethereal, somewhat electronic but with a hint of authenticity.
Typically the instruments used will be synths playing some orchestral string or bell sound with sustain in 7th major and minor chords which is also commonly seen in Jazz and R&B music, helps build to the atmosphere of the song. Electric bass, drum playing a funky rhythm with brushes that is slow steady paced with open snare, kick bass and closed high hat for a more intimate feel, acoustic guitar laying down a secondary melody that generally works in hand with a piano playing a jazzy melody usually trancing across the 7th chord notes being played by accompaniment. Some songs I hear tend to have like a filter draped over the entire song by quite possibly bit crunching, reverbing and EQ work to distort the sound by removing high frequency sounds and making the chords sound less sharp and clear thus bringing the nostalgia feel. Typically the way they put all this together are in ways that music was commonly used during the early 2000s to 2010, slowly branching out of the 90s that had used synth and electronic effects quite effectively.
But also on contrary, Frutiger Aero music can also branch away from the typical jazz style and play what was commonly used at the time especially for the younger demographic, which was electronic European club disco music of the 2000s. Prominent bands of the specific genre that used quite a lot of sounds that are commonly associated with Frutiger Aero but are not subject to are like "Around the World" by 'A Touch of Class', "World, Hold On" by 'Bob Sinclair and Steve Edwards', "Red, Yellow, Green & Blue" by 'Bambee' and "Lollipop (Candyman)" by 'Aqua' in particular to the disco rhythm and electronic sound samples and effects used in them.
I think overall after writing this, I will have to say the idea of what makes a frutiger aero song a frutiger aero song is the transitioning mix in between music of the long past like jazz and the transitioning new of synth music used primarily of the early 2000s, it's like a common ground in between the two that touches on the key characteristics of what was used and made in the 2000s. Because frutiger aero tends to build off the idea of blue skies and green grass with an almost utopia feel while also displaying views of the developing future of the 2000s mind, I would also have reason to believe that there are ideas and themes of the tropics thus the feeling of being at peace and in paradise and idea of aquatic nature being brought into the aesthetic, the same way you go on a tropic vacation.
Songs I ended up basing off were:
* LEASE - Takeshi Abo
* aquatic ambience - Scizzie
* Braincells - tomcbumpz
* Wii Party - void angel
* 2004 Ur Mall - Demo - zan
* ✿‧̥°̩̥˚̩̩̥͙°̩̥‧̥·̊‧̥°̩̥‧̥·̊✿°̩̥‧̥‧̥ ‧̥˚̩̩̥͙·‧̥·̊‧̥✿‧̥°̩̥˚̩̩̥͙°̩̥‧̥·̊˚̩̩̥͙°̩̥‧̥✿·̊·̊‧̥··̊‧̥°̩̥✿˚̩̩̥͙· - Snafu, ft. weirdo girl (Don't ask me on the name, it's weird I know

Topic of music in second paragraph:

Re: What makes Frutiger Aero Music Frutiger Aero?
Takeshi Abo mentioned, love his work
I highly recommend also listening to his other soundtracks, a lot of them got Frutiger Aero vibes (his other soundtracks "not FA related" are incredible too and very atmospheric, but that's another subject)
