[Discussion] - Which game(s) deserve a remake/remaster ?

Post by Patachoo »

There’re a lot of amazing forgotten or old video games, and for various reasons, lot of them would deserve a remake/remaster (but made with love for the old and news fans, not just doing a half-baked remake just for the sake of selling copies, cough cough I'm watching you big companies)
In your opinion, which game(s) deserve a remake/remaster on modern consoles ?

Personally, I think the game Xenogears (1998) deserves a remake, an incredible JRPG for the PS1 by Kaori Tanaka and Tetsuya Takahashi (the actual creators of the Xenoblade Chronicles and Xenosaga games) with a mind-blowing story and beautiful graphics and soundtrack. But this game got its flaws, which discourage some players from playing it : an in-game camera difficult to move, an insanely frustrating enemy spawn rate, translation and dubs issues, flashing content etc. The fan community did a patch to improve some aspects, but despite it, this game stays quite forgotten and it’s too bad because this game is really incredible, and I’m sure a remake with a better gameplay and other quality-of-life improvement would be perfect and would help to get this JRPG recognized for its quality and be known by more people
But unfortunately, it's Square Enix (Square in 1998) who still get the copyright of the game, their creators never got the chance to get back the copyright because of an internal disagreement. So Square Enix still holding Xenogears hostage, and we all know how awful Square Enix can be, so yeah I think getting a remake is just a wild dream ahah

I would love for there to be a LittleBigPlanet remake but on PC, I always wanted to play it on there. It's one of my favorite game franchise as well so any remaster of it would be good too.

Another game I think deserves a remake is Star Wars: Battlefront III, which got scrapped but was looking to be a promising game. After cancelling it, they ended up releasing the story in a PSP game called Star Wars Battlefront: Elite Squadron.

Some people did a mod on Battlefront II to add back the lost contents but it would be cool to have it finally come out as an official game.

Also, Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, while the game is awesome on its own, there's some problems with the UI and graphics (notably on high res displays), which you can only fix with mods at the moment. I'd like to see a remaster of it, though I wouldn't change the art-style like they did for the Oblivion remaster.

I think the Army of Two games for the PS3 should be remastered. They were pretty fun 3rd person shooters, but the game was limited by the PS3 hardware. Having a remaster of them with an improved stable framerate would be awesome.
