[Thread] Old or retro-style software's list

Unread post by orangethewell »

Hi, guys and gals! :yellow_wave:

I made this thread because I was thinking that would be good bring together all retro-style or old software (old versions included) into a single place. This thread can have both modern software built for old computers (i.e.: AeroChat, Discord Messenger, Supermium) and old software, with updates until today (i.e.: Winamp, VLC, Pidgin I think) or usable abandonware (i.e.: Macromedia Flash old versions).

Let me list some!
  • AeroChat - Modern software that looks like Windows MSN, but it's a client for Discord.
  • Visual Studio 2010 Express - Old software, but still very usable for developing with C# and C++ (I don't know if web development still works nicely, sorry :yellow_look: )
  • Paint.NET - Modern software, I think it still updated until today, a lightweight painting tool, photo editor with a lot of features that make you feel in a high tech movie!! :orange_lol:
  • Clippy GPT - That's some example of modern with old look too! A GPT with clippy look, even that's not from my era... But it's a nice addition to the list!

There's some that come in mind, but there's more, so feel free to search up and add them there! :sign_search:

There is MMSSTV for anyone interested in working with SSTV signals. It's definetly retro, not sure whether it's still being updated or not.

There's also QSSTV which does the same thing but on Linux & can be found in the Software Manager on Linux Mint.
