Thanks ! Nope it's not the original battery, the previous owner changed it with a new one shortly before selling it, argh I'm sorry for you unfortunately the original PSP batteries are often now swelling and becoming a fire hazard  ashamed0006

From what I can advice (from what I learned when looking for buying a PSP years ago), Ostent is the best brand for new batteries, only buy capacity between 3.6v 1400mAh and 3.6 v2200mah maximum, and don't buy official PSP Sony batteries, because they aged very badly. For more in depth informations, I share these two good threads from the r/PSP community : Battery Megathread - Battery Guide
And thanks for the game recommendation ! I'll take a look

thank you so much for the advice! i ended up buying an ostent battery 1400 which arrived yesterday and it booted up instantly when i put it in. i don't think without this thread i would've ever looked into it so i wanna thank you because inside was a hidden treasure that gave me some real nostalgia.   i'm not sure how to embed pictures into a reply but here is the treasure i found. a photo of my dog playing poker i took in 2008! (edit2) it's still not working so i'll just post the link ibb.co/9m67v4Cr
I'm glad I was able to help you, have fun with your PSP !  :D  (The dog picture is so cute ! Seems to be a formidable poker player lmao)

The PSP was practically my childhood when growing up, but I unfortunately had the last version (the Street) and that mostly sucked due to the bad audio and no WLAN support. Remember the Gran Turismo PSP multiplayer feature? Yeah, I couldn't play with my friends and that really sucked. Still a great machine though.
