I'm making a post to talk about a game that's stuck in my head for years now, a game i found in a random list and that, despite barely playing it and seeing what it has in store, it still perplexes me and makes me want to talk about it at every chance i have
I'm talking about The Mana World, an "M"MORPG that's been going strong for 21 years now
TMW is an "M"MORPG that started development in 2004, it's a free and open source game built by volunteers in their free time, still receiving updates to this very day
Oh and the game looks like this
I really don't know what has me this attached to this game, the game itself is really grindy, the organization is a mess, the mere act of installing it is confusing, and in general i wouldn't recommend anyone to play this, and yet i always think about it, wondering if i'm ever going to pick it back up one day
Maybe it's nostalgia, since i remember playing a game that looked like that when i was young, maybe it's just it's charm, and the fact that it lived for so long despite not being that well known, or maybe my brain is just weird
This certainly isn't the only weird and obscure "M"MORPG out there, and i'd like to hear if you know of any that you remember stumbling up one day, or maybe one that you played as a kid and is somehow still alive, i'd love to hear more about it!
21 years?! That's some dedicated devs right there.
I know an obscure MMO game (idk about rpg though), it's about nendoroids, sadly it's been shut down due to inactivity. It was kind of like Roblox where you could make your own skins and maps but without restrictions. So some skins were literally objects or vehicles like boats and cars.
