Macromedia Flash 8 is still worth it?

Found a cool new game, and want to share it? This is the place for that, as well as gaming discussion in general.

Macromedia Flash 8 is still worth it?

Post by orangethewell »

It's been a long time since flash was deprecated. I know that there are a lot of better alternatives than macromedia flash 8 out there, but I don't really know if any of them keep the same old style that flash brought to us. If any of you have any suggestions, but if not, what you think? Does Flash is still worth it? For animations, drawings or even games, since we have ruffle now.

Yes for the games that don't work with Ruffle (which there are some), otherwise I just use Ruffle, it works the same to me.

Scratch seems very basic. At least that's what I thought before I saw someone porting the Scratch engine to the 3DS.

I've seen that video… the actual advanced parts of Scratch imo is the pen, the graphic effects, the cloud variables, the vector graphics and the live coding, (maybe the extra Makey Makey LEGO Mindstorm stuff as well, that probably no one uses). To me it's like a limited Flash player that's meant to be easy to use for kids (of course) but people like griffpatch also push it with cool results. The website is what makes me think of flash since it's a place where you can create games, animations and whatnot and share them with people, just like you can with flash on Newgrounds. Except Scratch is supposed to be family friendly. Didn't stop me from seeing bloodied characters in a Scratch horror game once though
