Since it's Halloween time, it's only appropriate to ask this question. My favorite horror game is Resident Evil 2 (1998). I love really every aspect of the game from the gameplay, soundtrack, enemies, atmosphere, story, and characters. My only nitpick is that it's a little too easy. I wish the hard mode was on every port instead of just the DreamCast and PC versions, and that the zombies weren't complete bullet sponges. So what's your pick for favorite?
I really agree with RE2 on PSX to be among (if not the) best horror games around. On the topic of retro, a PS2 era horror game I really enjoyed was Clocktower 3. The plot is a little goofy but I had fun with the mechanics and it wasn't overly difficult.
If I had to pick an overall favorite I would say Quake. When I played through it, The music and art style make it feel like a living nightmare. I think my current favorite is Mortuary Assistant. Just the atmosphere of the morgue is creepy and the devs did a great job with the sound design and the cadaver prep process.
Also: RE2 had the best safe room music of all the RE games I've played so far (just finished 6).
my ex girlfriend bugged me to play re7 even though i wasnt a fan of horror games, now it's one of my favorite games, it's seriously so cool. i havent played the original re2 but ive played the remake

Nice to see another RE2 OG fan, I'll be sure to check out Clocktower 3 and Quake whenever I have the free time.

I highly recommend playing OG RE2. It's a great game and has a decent amount of content not in the remake. It has tons of ports so there's many ways to play it. Also if you're interested and you've never played a fixed camera angled RE game before, I recommend playing Resident Evil 1 Remake with the original controls on. Another good game and will get you adjusted easier to the controls than RE2. If using controller be sure to use the D-pad for movement.

yo I like FNAF too! I really enjoy the lore, and I feel like the only FNAF fan in existence whose favorite game is Security Breach, I got the ruin dlc for it, too. I have the whole tales from the pizzaplex series, all 3 silver eyes books, and i've read the Fazbear frights series, but I only have a few books from the series lol

My FAVORITE horror game of all time has gotta be Nanashi No Gemu (The Nameless Game) and Nanashi No Gemu: Me (The Nameless Game: Eye). They were made by Square Enix actually, and they were Japan exclusive games for the Nintendo DS and they released in 2006 and 2008 iirc.
