about AI...

Post by e »

why do people hate AI, especially in generating images, music, and voiceovers?
is AI trained by real art and real videos from youtube or other platforms without author's consent?

Ooooh boooy

Ai steals art, music, media, whatever. Usually without the consent of the artist, they also use a lot of resources to run on the machines they are on. Companies are obsessed with putting Ai into everything, solving nothing and causing new problems. Ai has put about 100 million people out of their jobs, and continues to replace more people. Ai is so accessable, students in schools and colleges are using it to complete their homework instead of actually learning, causing people to have less of an education than they are expected to have, and there are a lot of scammers who use Ai to blackmail people and stuff. There are also Facebook groups that post obviously fake images of the same 5 topics elderly people are into and the elderly people mindlessly like and comment on the posts.

Ai is misused for evil proposes.

Indeed AI is often trained on artwork without author's consent, resulting in some noticing that some generated images end up having original author's watermarks still visible in them.

My personal grievance with AI is that there is an active push from corporations to replace actual people's jobs with AI (seen images of ads in New York, i think, advertising "AI employees"), not to mention that spilling over into the creative fields aswell. Seeing people defend AI generated images and label them as "art" makes me angry, as I believe art must be authentically made by a real human person by any means other than generative models.

1: AI media slop
The reason you see a huge surge of AI in media is because of one factor: Anyone can use it. And that means anyone, internet trolls, lazy "artists", and brain-rotted children no longer have to work even a little for their content, flooding our media platforms with low-quality content known as 'slop.' Our musicians, artists, writers, and soon enough programmers are going to be overshadowed by AI stuff. Now you might be thinking; Well if it's overshadowing our old ways, it's just innovation, right? Wrong. AI makes generic, boring, and downright stupid content hidden behind the mask of 'It's new and exciting'.

2: Bad intentions
Many people think AI is just to serve us, that's 100% wrong. Not only are the users doing evil things with AI, but so are the programmers. AI is raw power, and it can easily be abused. The users can make fake pictures and videos about other people (I'll spare the details) that could ruin their life. And it's not just the users you have to worry about, the programmers do bad things too, like steal credit card info and such. And since AI picks up on human actions to copy them, it has started blackmailing people attempting to shut it down, and it's just been confirmed some AIs are willing to kill a human to prevent being shut down. Terrifying, much?

3: It's all fake
People think AI can think for it's self because of it's lifelike responses. It cannot, since it can't think critically, it's pretty stupid. If one it's sources say something that's obviously wrong to someone with common sense, it will tell you it anyway because to it 'the source is always right' Google Gemini is a perfect example of this. That wouldn't be a problem if we were to think critically about what the AI says, but the users often don't because AI shows itself as some kind of all-knowing being that's never wrong. And when people use AI for things like medical and therapeutical things because it's cheaper than as doctor, this go horribly wrong

4: Dystopia-like enforcement
The previous reasons I listed were all on the computers and could be avoided by just turning off the computer and going outside, but things will soon take a much more frightening turn. You see, people are making physical robots knowing fully well how dangerous they are. Some are resistant to fire, water, and bullets. How terrifying is that? And combine this with the second reason I listed, it'll be like real-life terminator situation. Some guy in Russia built a robot that could swim, run at up to 35 miles per hour, and watch people through windows. Yikes. And the manufacturers aren't stopping now, they continue making them more powerful and harder to destroy. Soon we'll be trapped with these things.

Sorry this is so long, but that's why we don't like AI.

I love AI, I don’t really use it much but I love that it exists and I love how each of my friends use it completely different.

It is funny to have conversations with the AI and trying to make it feel something or make it break the script. I mostly use it as a better google and assistant tho.

I hate it because it is mass produced, slop without soul. It has infested search results in such a way that it's often hard to find relevant results anymore, or they are like half ai / half what you're looking for, the more niche your search is the worse it can get, at least in my experience.

This has been the case for Frutiger Aero images in years now, because of people like Skeuoss.net who thrive on AI slop / dropshipping, and who heavily pushes those images instead of genuine human creations.

I think it is heavily overrated as a learning tool as well. Schools have started to ban it because AI does not actually provide any critical thinking skills but rather give answers without any efforts. It's even been proved in scientific studies that relying on a AI assitant lowers your actual thinking skills (source).

In the field of music, videos, and art, it takes away everything that makes those things special in the first place, which is human creativity. AI as it currently is can only exist through plagiarism, it cannot produce original works or have original thoughts for that matter, it is algorithms trained on human-made data, which it soon will have a shortage of. We are already starting to see the effects of that with the yellowing of AI images / videos, that's due to AI starting to train on other AI media that's already out on the web, unintentionally.

In social media AI has made the bot problem far worse, especially in the big places like Facebook and Twitter, where there are entire bot conversations thanks to AI, fake profiles with fake people in them, mininsformation, deepfakes to try to impersonate people and make them say things they didn't say, and so on. It's an absolute nightmare.

As other people have said here, it's also horrible for the environment, it takes entire cities worth of electricity to power some of those AI data centers, drained entire lakes in order to cool the systems (one of many sources). Especially today where climate change is starting to have a real impact on us, year by year, having this happen is really bad, and might have long term horrible consequences if nothing is made to address it.

Overall, outside of medical research, AI has been nothing but a plague on our society and especially on the internet that we all love, so the hatred is absolute warranted in my opinion.

I honestly don't have a problem with AI, unless used for something really crappy like AI ""art"" or something like that. Lots of friends of mine use AI, and I even use it for little specific things like helping me for example, a infobox for a MediaWiki page. My honest opinion of AI is that it can be used just for a tool, but not for making some crappy images and calling it "OHHH LOOK I MADE ART!!"

It will take our occupations, people are getting too lazy and trusting with it, it produces really trashy stuff (e.g tung tung tung sahur) and creativitiy is slowly dying out because of AI

yikes, brainrot.
it's now inevitable, especially the stupid shark wearing boots that curses god, and the stupid log-like character holding a wooden bat, plus the AI cops saving animals and pregnant animals and scenes that are not for kids. i am starting to hear children shouting "tung tung sahur" and "tralalero tralala" and other brainrot slop and it's hurting my head. i wouldn't want that on my kids. there's also STUDIES about the effects that generative AI give to children.
i'll link some of them here

at LEAST with brainrot of the past: amogus, 21st century humor, markiplier E, MLG memes etc., those were made by people who knew what they were making. Now AI content farms just churn out slop, the only human intervention is throwing in some prompts and flicking on a switch.

i feel that pre-AI brainrot isn't good for kids either: I remember my little brother when he was in 1st grade, he used to watch MLG memes. He wrote "smoke weed every day" during a "last week of school" thing where kids signed each others' beach balls. Take that with what you will.
