Re: The fear of Nostalgia Weaponization
At the risk of getting too close to violating the same rule, I don't think that people stating a simple fact (that the internet and the quality of posts/content made on it, even by humans, have degraded, and that new technology has largely lost its luster for people) has that much to do with trends ...

Re: What is the story behind your username?
I like Michael Haneke's movies, as depressing and gut-wrenching as many of them are, and thought the term that was applied to his first three theatrical releases ("a trilogy depicting a coldly bureaucratic society in which genuine human relationships have been supplanted by a deep-seated collective ...

TF2, anime, and Touhou, the structural supports that hold up much of internet culture (or at least did at one point)Daniele63 wrote: Mon Nov 17, 2025 12:28 pmYes I knew that, it's crazy how much TouHou had influence on early internet memes.

Re: What do you think of retro styled tech?
I don't really like them. For me the modern features makes it way less periodically accurate and makes it lose it's retro charm.
I would go as far as to extend this to most 'retro' revivals in general, especially for time periods where you can go back and look at old things that are still around ...

Re: What are some of y'alls favoriate flash games?
There's one that was supposed to be like a JRPG and for the life of me I wish I could remember what it was. I remember the designs were a bit generic and the combat system was nothing to write home about but it worked until I got a Vita and could play P3P/P4G like I wanted to. All I can remember is ...

Re: Cyber aesthetic?
I think cybergoth is your best bet. There's the famous bridge rave video and I remember watching a lot of cool cybergoth dance videos on Youtube in 2019 or 2020. The industrial/EBM stuff from the 2000s that cybergoths like(d) is really hit-or-miss, though, at least compared to the artists most of it ...

Re: I think older brother core is ridiculous
I know this is probably the wrong place to be saying this, but a lot of the content people make about these aesthetics is pretty ridiculous. Most of it tends to group together loosely related things under a pretty bad rationale (it probably doesn't help that most of this stuff seems to be made by ...
