I'll start off with this phpBB website that presents the forum software to french speaking people, it features some reflections and transparency, but also subtle gradients so I would say it is post-morphism. It first featured this design around 2014 (Archive).

Well personally I've seen many people online talk about how the whole Frutiger Aero/Tech Optimism aesthetic was made specifically for corporations to draw the public's opinion away from set corporations' shady practises. If you think about it this way, perhaps it's better that the aesthetic is now embraced by genuine people (mostly) with no dark side to it. What if this new age of Frutiger Aero is actually more golden than 2001-2013? Time will tell I guess, but one thing for sure - the best definately isn't over. At least not in my view lol - 3 Been thanked

Wed Dec 03, 2025 11:06 pm Apple Fires UI Design Head, Alan Dye Wed Dec 03, 2025 11:06 pm Apple Fires UI Design Head, Alan Dye
https://www.macrumors.com/2025/12/03/apple-alan-dye-joining-meta/
Apple UI design head Alan Dye is leaving the company and transitioning to Meta, reports Bloomberg. Dye took over Apple's user interface design team in 2015 when former Apple designer Jony Ive transitioned to Chief Design Officer, and he's held that position since then.
macos tahoe liquid glass look
Dye has been at Apple since 2006, joining the marketing and communication team as a creative director. He transitioned to Jony Ive's user interface team in 2012 to work on iOS 7, and he worked on subsequent iOS, iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, and visionOS design updates. Most recently, he helped develop the Vision Pro interface, and he oversaw the rollout of the iOS 26 and macOS 26 Liquid Glass design revamp.
Apple plans to replace Dye with Stephen Lemay, a longtime Apple designer who joined the company over 25 years ago. In a statement to Bloomberg, Apple CEO Tim Cook praised Lemay.
Steve Lemay has played a key role in the design of every major Apple interface since 1999. He has always set an extraordinarily high bar for excellence and embodies Apple's culture of collaboration and creativity.
Design is fundamental to who we are at Apple, and today, we have an extraordinary design team working on the most innovative product lineup in our history.
Dye is joining Meta as chief design officer on December 31, and he will help Meta in its efforts to further break into consumer hardware. Dye will head up Meta's new design studio, overseeing hardware design and software design with a focus on improving Meta devices like headsets and glasses with AI features. - 3 Been thanked

Thu Nov 13, 2025 10:59 pm Wiki and you Thu Nov 13, 2025 10:59 pm Wiki and you
i love Wikipedia. you (probably) love Wikipedia too.
use Wikipedia articles to describe yourself! :orange_biggrin:
(your beliefs, traits, appearance, anything).
Mixed-handedness
Cross-dominance , also known as mixed-handedness , hand confusion , or mixed dominance , is a motor skill manifestation in which a person favors one hand for some tasks and the other hand for others, or a hand and the contralateral leg.
Freedom of Roam
The freedom to roam , or everyone's right , every person's right or everyman's right , is the general public's right to access certain public or privately owned land, lakes, and rivers for recreation and exercise. In Estonia, it is permitted to access natural and cultural landscapes on foot, by bicycle, ski, boat, or on horseback. In Sweden "allemansrätten" (lit. "the everyman's right") is a freedom granted by the Constitution of Sweden. In Finland, "jokaisenoikeus" in Finnish ("everyone's right") refers to the freedom to roam and related rights.
Imaginary friend
Imaginary friend is a psychological and a social phenomenon where a friendship or other interpersonal relationship takes place in the imagination rather than physical reality. Although they may seem real to their creators, children usually understand that their imaginary friends are not real.
Paracosm
A paracosm is a detailed imaginary world thought generally to originate in childhood. The creator of a paracosm has a complex and deeply felt relationship with this subjective universe, which may incorporate real-world or imaginary characters and conventions. Commonly having its own geography, history, and language, it is an experience that is often developed during childhood and continues over a long period of time, months or even years, as a sophisticated reality that can last into adulthood. - 3 Been thanked

bluetooth idog. could you imagine
another thing i guess would be like. Background music in things. like scrolling through the nintendo eshop and it not sounding so desolate but instead something like the wii u eshop or the dsi shop. menu themes (NINTENDO I SWEAR TO GOD-)
i guess also prices from that era because a chocolate bar has no business being 100bs dude what the hell
no ai in the sense of replacing people in creative spaces. to me stuff like c.ai is fine-ish (not good but still not bad) but if it's image generating to replace artists then. yeah. kill.
i cant think of anything else :P - 3 Been thanked

okay, I just realised in my post, even though I wrote it from scratch, it sounds like ChatGPT wrote it. like, I swear, reading that whole thing made me cringe so hard and I didn't even write it that long ago! :purple_giggle:
anyway, I don't really have more to say, I just wanted to get that off my chest real quick. I'll try not to be so... paragraphic next time I guess? I dunno, just thought it was odd, 'kay bye!
:yellow_popcorn:
AI would not use subjective terms like "I think" and "interesting". You're being way too hard on yourself.
honestly i (thankfully) havent seen ai content as often anymore but the best i can describe ai is that it writes like a stereotypical redditor trying to sound smarter than it actually is - 3 Been thanked

Thu Nov 13, 2025 11:02 am Re: How do you pronounce GIF? Thu Nov 13, 2025 11:02 am Re: How do you pronounce GIF?
Jif (I have no idea if it's the "correct" pronunciation)
I've heard a story that the original inventor of the GIF said it's pronounced "jif" near the end of his life, but I have no idea if this is actually real or just some silly myth.
I searched it up, it seems it is indeed pronounced "jif" :sign_search: - 3 Been thanked

i think if its just for work thats online or you just need something a laptop that connects to the internet and nothing more, it's alright
i just dont like how it's replaced windows computers in schools cause now there are a ton of people who just practically have no computer literacy skills cause of how much it removes features and dumbs down stuff
as a base to teach to kids basic navigation, it's ok, but anything more, meh - 3 Been thanked

Thu Nov 13, 2025 11:35 pm Re: whatâs something from the 2000s that you want to see again? Thu Nov 13, 2025 11:35 pm Re: whatâs something from the 2000s that you want to see again?
I miss video games being finished products without any stupid extra crap to sell afterwards that adds nothing to the game other than cosmetics(Thanks Bethesda).
I miss video games that didn't need day 1 patches or other types of heavy dev work on a just-released game. I miss actual game expansion packs with substantial content instead of "battle passes" or whatever BS is currently floating around.
...
I miss physical PC game orders with physical goodies.
...
I miss cars & phones without GPS tracking that can be abused to make government surveillance of individuals trivial.
...
I miss not having a cell phone being socially acceptable. Sure, you'd have a landline or a cell phone, but there was no expectation you'd be constantly checking it. In the employment world, it's made some sectors a nightmare. I've had jobs where you had 24/7 on-call and were expected to check your phone every hour on the hour until you went to bed, at which point you'd just have to hope your ringer was high enough that you'd hear a mail/text/call and wake up.
oh my gods, so true!!! :orange_nod: just wanted to list it too, but then saw your post, and decided to quote some parts of it instead. you articulated it very well. physical media and DRM-free format... i miss them.
i'd also add:
BlackBerry phones (R.I.P.) and the like
(more) repairable tech
interesting, beautiful, experimental, colorful, unique tech!
ability to disappear
small (wide) MP3 players with the monochrome screens
less of moral absolutism / neo-purity culture, more of sex freedom / sex liberation
minors-oriented healthy web spaces. rather than "protecting" children and making the whole web sterile, i'd rather see spaces specifically created for minors. like forums, online games without ability to chat (only pre-made phrases), educational stuff maybe, something like kids TV channels, you know? for different ages too: like, okay, there are 10 years old children on the internet already, give them some places to be. and 15+ youngsters would probably like their own spaces too.
creating accounts with just username and password. not email or... a phone number :orange_tear:
no genAI, less bot traffic, less bots overall

besides frutiger aero, of course. it's obviously back, or else, what are we doing here?this can be anything. tech, trends, products, franchises, anything you miss from the 2000s that you want to see againmalls, for me. having a place you can go to socialize, play games, have a nice lunch and support businesses all at once is something that the kids of today need to experience - 3 Been thanked

Sat Nov 29, 2025 9:32 pm Rejecting art/design commissons Sat Nov 29, 2025 9:32 pm Rejecting art/design commissons
Recently I was approached with a company that started with a "J" for me to redesign their website to be more frutiger aero. I was initially intrigued, but asked them who they are. Unfortunately, it turned out to be one of countless AI... "chatbot" sites.
Warning: Descriptions may be NSFW, but no NSFW imagery: https://files.catbox.moe/1kh5dy.jpg
Needless to say, I rejected the offer. They tried to convince me with the site's popularity and that the use of AI isn't "bad" or whatever, but I didn't know how to respond, and forgot about it. (I didn't see the NSFW until after I rejected them) Just today they reached out offering a full-time job. NO THANKS.

Tue Dec 09, 2025 10:40 pm Re: What do you think of retro styled tech? Tue Dec 09, 2025 10:40 pm Re: What do you think of retro styled tech?
it goes one of two ways for me. let’s use cameras as an example. many “retro style” cameras are just cheap toys from aliexpress; in this context, “retro” is a cute way to say “bad on purpose”. however, polaroid still make their classic instant film cameras, refitted with modern tech systems, and i think that’s awesome. they’ve earned the right to be truly deemed “retro-style”
having said that, if you want retro tech, just get real retro tech from the thrift store or something. nothing wrong with that - 3 Been thanked
