    hi hello.

i'm sunner, sometimes venula, and i've grown fond of the frutiger aero aesthetics since two years ago. i thought now would be a good time to join the forums, as well as try forums out in general, since i never really used them throughout all my years on the web.

i like making music, it's something i've been in and out of but just october 2024 did i decide to finally pick it back up definitely, and i think it's been a good time.

i mostly enjoy playing roblox in my free time, i even made music for a roblox game, REGRETEVATOR, which you can check out here .

i don't want to extend my intro any further so you can check out more about me and my thoughts in my irregularly maintained neocities webpage. it should be linked in my signature.

    thanks for reading

If you're a Warriors type of person, then you should also get into Wings of Fire. Loved it as a kid, still kind of a guilty pleasure of mine. Just last year I read through the third series; probably my favorite out of all of them tbh

RAHH SO MANY WARRIORS-LIKE RECOMMENDATIONS!! THIS ONE HAS ALSO BEEN NOTED DOWN, THANK YOU!!

  • Mon Oct 13, 2025 1:10 pm Re: what’s something from the 2000s that you want to see again? Mon Oct 13, 2025 1:10 pm Re: what’s something from the 2000s that you want to see again?
I find cars from the 2000s strangely elegant. The same goes for electronic devices from that era, such as computers and phones. And I would also say cameras from the 2000s.

The more time passes, the more difficult it will be to find this type of object or atmosphere from the 2000s.

We will reach a point where it will be so old that we will have to start repairing everything. Already today... A lot of old equipment is no longer working very well. So yes, most of it still works. But let's say they're on their last legs... And some just need a little help to be like new again.

And if we want to remanufacture them today, they will inevitably be modernized (at least in terms of electronic components). And the feeling of using these objects would not be the same as it was back then.

  • Sun Jul 20, 2025 8:53 pm My journey with my first home server Sun Jul 20, 2025 8:53 pm My journey with my first home server
    Oh hey hi

A while ago i heard about this thing some people do where they create their own personal server, either because they can find a use for something like that or just because they want to have fun experimenting with stuff, and i found myself in a position in between; while i had in mind just doing it to do some silly stuff like hosting servers for games and such, i then realized i could use it for something a bit more useful

If the fact that i'm talking about home servers wasn't enough of a clue, i am a nerd that, when possible, tries to avoid the more convenient solution and instead go for the one that grants me either more control for me, or less control for the service i'm using, and one of the ways that shines the most is through how i listen to music

For the longest time the way i listened to music consisted on me sailing the seven seas looking for flacs of albums i liked, getting them into my preferred player (Foobar 2000), and if i really liked it, i'd use Local Send to copy it to my phone, which was kind of a pain; so the idea of having a central place that both my computer and my phone can access with the exact same music seemed interesting

So, i got a cheapo mini pc, installed ubuntu server, and went straight into CasaOS, a web UI that allows you to manage your server in a more friendly manner than the cold, cold terminal

The first day with it was an absolute mess, nothing was working, everything was restarting out of nowhere, and i accidentally left my whole house without internet trying to set up a static IP address, whoops  :P

The thing that bugged me the most however was the most was Navidrome, the service for synchronizing music between devices and what got me interested with this project, i couldn't see a way to implement Last.fm scrobbling, something that i feel is kinda essential, since i like to keep track on the songs i listen to

However, after sleeping and deciding to tinker with it a bit more, i discovered that the reason for that was because it was a docker container, i was trying to do it the manual way (creating a config file with the API keys), but i just needed to enter the setting page CasaOS offers and i was able to put everything i needed in there

How something as simple as this took me an entire day to figure out i think is proof that i should stay away from important computers

But yeah!, i've been hacking away at it, got compatible players on both my phone and pc (For anyone interested, my recommendations are Aonsoku for windows and Substreamer for android), and i'm thinking of seeing if i could get a static IP address to host servers for my friend group, like a mumble server or something like that

If you decide to venture into this, do know that it will take time, effort, a lot of patience, and plunging yourself into something completely unknown, where stuff might happen to you that didn't ever happen to anyone else; but, if you persist and come to terms that on your first attempt you might need to start from 0 a few times, i highly recommend this, it's been wonderful working this thing out

I noticed that Firefox is starting to be more and more slow for loading pages, I didn't have those issues before. Maybe I should change for something else. :blue_confused:

could be that maybe the websites you're visiting are prioritizing chromium browsers more
so maybe look into browsers based on chromium. some of them like brave or vivaldi also have built-in ad blockers if that's a concern for you

  • Thu Dec 11, 2025 2:53 pm Re: this might be the end Thu Dec 11, 2025 2:53 pm Re: this might be the end

I think if yourusing a vpn you shopuld be fine
but the government defenatly shouldnt be taking care of minors thats the parents job,,,,,

bro thats what im saying why does the entire country have to suffer because of one kids bad parenting

Don't quote me on this literally as this is just a personal opinion and view of how I see things, just looking for normal conversation
I think the reason it has come to this has not just been a decision made over night, but over countless years. There have been countless times where people under the age of 16 have been misusing the internet and simply because the parents can't get a hold on their kids searches and uses after countless reminders from the government, that the government would need to step in. Even witnessing my cousin getting into dating apps and already developing toxic ideas about women at such a young age of 15 while being secretive from his parents, I suppose it goes the same for political posts and world issues, negative mental health enforcement* etc. (*What I mean by this is how I see plenty of kids and young teenagers already suffering bad mental health feeling insecure, depressed, antisocial etc)

I suppose how I remembered it going through school as well as when I was really young and the concept of social media was new was that anyone who was under the age of 17 or quite even 18 were not using social media and parents had a strong grip on their children's online uses because most people used computers and didn't have mobile phones like we do today (Excluding the flip phones and keypad phones). It was generally drilled into kids brains back then that the internet is not a playground and that you are very much interacting with adults and still having a developing brain which shouldn't be rushed into thinking like an adult and be desensitized by the time they get to 18. Once social media took place in the later years of my school life, schools only just began implementing a phone ban policy ensuring that no phones are to be seen on school grounds.
I guess over time, parents of the newer generation who managed to grow up with technology have begun releasing their grip on children's uses online based on their own experiences and them not personally having plenty of issues themselves to consider it an unsafe on the digital world. I am not to say all underage kids are bad and misuse the internet, but the vast majority unfortunately do, as much as it sounds bad for under 16 to be banned from social media, I feel it is probably the most necessary action due to the overall parent mentality of being slack on their kids online uses and not deeming it to be a serious matter to look into.

The one thing I am very against is the potential method of verification. I am not aware as of yet how they will fact check information on age, but if it requires getting an ID photo done on social media apps I am far against, but if it is to verify ID to the government and the government going to social media and giving you a green tick, I am somewhat ok with it.

(This isn't directed to you or possibly others on here, but from what I have heard countless times over the web, I don't understand why people say that it is totalitarian and control of people if people need to show ID to the government... They are the government... They will have your information the moment you are born thus why you got a birth certificate, drivers license, other licenses etc... They are all issued by the government.)

  • Wed Oct 08, 2025 11:10 pm I Only Started Caring About Themes Recently Wed Oct 08, 2025 11:10 pm I Only Started Caring About Themes Recently
I didn't care as much about theming my desktop and apps when I was younger. I'd use the default theme for Windows XP, Vista, and 7. I might try out a couple of looks once in a while. But I'd always come back to the default out of indecision. But now that I'm older and the big thing is flat design, I kinda missed being able to theme my desktop. I didn't realize this until I started using programs like Open Shell.
On Windows 10-11, it seems like you have to risk bricking your computer to theme your desktop unless you're comfortable with only doing themes for the start menu and taskbar. Sure, there's stuff for theming the titlebars too but either they can only do glassmorphism for the titlebars, do Aero Lite titlebars only, or it's Windowblinds and Windowblinds eats up a lot of RAM and don't even theme your start menu. I don't know how theming is on MacOS, but due to the lack of resources online, I assume it's also limited. On Linux, you can theme your desktop however you want, but most of the top themes are flat design and you have to do some digging for older ones, especially ones that still look right on my desktop environment. It's weird. When people who hate on FOSS, you always heard that it looks "outdated", but then they only bring up LibreOffice or GIMP and ignore like thousands of FOSS have updated modern designs for better or worse. Sure, there's some stuff that looks older, but I feel like that's few and far between and most of it is boring "modern" design. I don't know. Maybe I'm the only one who feels this way about FOSS design language. But at least with FOSS, you can usually theme it I guess.

  • Thu Dec 25, 2025 8:36 pm Re: Why do you like Frutiger Aero? Thu Dec 25, 2025 8:36 pm Re: Why do you like Frutiger Aero?
i think it's just bias from having windows 7 be the first operating system i ever used by myself. but also could be from things having effort to pop out and have color and such. like Menus. take the ps3 menu and compare it to something like the nintendo switch. i know it's an unfair comparasion but comparing the wii u to it would be an insult to the wii u.
but most of it amounts up to the bias of everything being Black and White with No Fun and Corporate and such now compared to everything showing a sort of bright future with technology and nature existing together. No i'm not gonna be part of the "future we were promised" gang because they did Not promise anything

Man I'm about to mention such a deep cut. Like very few people will know what im talking about. There was this old rpg maker game based on Homestar runner called Thy Stinkoman 2003. A crack parody rpg maker 2000 game ripe with old early internet humor. Is it good? Debatable. Do i love it? Yes. I want to revisit it sometime in the future.

There's still an old lets play or 2 of it on youtube too:

    My own theme: https://userstyles.world/style/23205
However a recent update removed the background image that I used to have on it and I can't figure out how to add it back so It's just a plain color instead.
