Hey um

Unread post by AlexanderNotGreat »

:yellow_look: So Hi i guess :yellow_look:
This is my first experience ever with any forum so uh please don't judge me too hard for my goofy actions okay :cyan_angel:
That said, hopefully I don't get banned for being too cringe :yellow_bouncey:

I don't know what to say about my ahh personality tbh, I'm a nerd at school and I'm also taking a beginner C++ programming course at a university this year, maybe that leads me to something, I don't really know since I'm treating it as a hobby and not a career option.

Now looking at my age you probably think "what is this diddy blud doing on this forum if Frutiger Aero died as a mainstream aesthetic long before he learned to type". That is indeed a fair question, and actually i think thats why it's worth mentioning that my first years of experience with computers in general came with my grandma's old Samsung RV511, which ran Windows 7. Those years basically defined how I use PCs and what I like in them. My favorite toys were Powerpoint 2003 and Windows Movie maker, I also remember playing Purble Place. Btw am i the only one who doesn't understand why did they remove such a lagre variety of templates from PP 2003 when releasing 2007 and later editions? :orange_angry:

So yeah because Windows 7 and its tools are obviously frutiger aero looking at the aesthetic gives me nostagia due to my personal expirience. (Don't bully me for being too young please :yellow_raining_1: )

As for my plans, I have quite big ones in mind. Next year I wanna try to build a retro PC (which will also be my first ever expirince with PC building). I figured out despite how used I am to Win7 I will make it Windows Vista, since I think it's a seriously underrated and overhated OS, and also because making it usable in 2025/26 seems like a greater and more exciting challenge.
In the distant future I want to start making my own asadal-style imagery (which I'll also make public domain for yall to use (That is, if i ever make it in the first place lol)) and maybe compose some goofy ahh beats in reaper (I wanna do all that on the Vista PC, of course).

So yeah, thank you if you've read it this far (maybe I'm not as uninteresting as i believe I am haha (also this is just goofy self-irony don't call a therapist on me I'm not dihpressed or anything I swear)) The journey has just started, I'm looking forward to having fun with yall

As someone who runs a Windows Vista virtual machine in 2025, I can say there's less app support than Windows 7, but it looks just awesome. Personally Vista is my favorite Windows OS.

Welcome to the forum! I don't particularly mind of young people not properly being able to experience the moment as it was, but I still find great appreciation when young people do stumble across things of the past and build an interest towards as much as we did. Much better than the rest of the people who throw hate to the past and constantly keep looking deep into the future. C++ is a good way to head towards insanely good pay jobs like computer scientist or computer engineer, definitely look into getting started on it now and it will help in the long run. Looking forward to seeing you around on the forum page!

P.s. The brainrot is strong with this one :yellow_look:

Sorry i thought using brainrot words helps breaking the ice and making me sound less serious and confident (bc i thought seeing a too confident 16 year old noob will probably annoy older users who actually experienced the style's prime). Well in any case thanks for pointing out it doesn't work like that, i won't use them from now on

No no no, I didn't mean it in a bad way in any way. I was just saying. I didn't find an issue with it at all, just gave me a bit of a chuckle. Looking forward to chatting more!
