Okay, so recently, after using Revert8Plus, a Windows 7 theme for Windows 10 and up, an update just divebombed me out of nowhere despite myself explicitly pausing them and Windows 10 recently having it's support cut off (I guess I just held off the last one too long or something.) So anyway, I tried re-installing Revert8Plus afterwards and unsurprisingly, everything was broken. I've been thinking of using the Media Creation tool to just have a clean slate for my installation and I have everything backed up, my main concern is if I accidentally lose my programme data while doing so for something that might not even work when I try it. I really want my theme back but I also have things set up in a way I might not be able to get back once I make the reset.
Should I risk it?
UPDATE!
It's working now! viewtopic.php?t=976

I say risk the reset. It's better than have a functioning computer than one that looks nice but is broken beyond repair.

Re: Should I Risk this Reset?
I'm sorry for you for it :( I'm also using Revert8Plus and I never got this problem, by chance maybe try to contact the staff members about it ? Maybe they can try to help and find a solution to avoid a reset

What I would do is backup everything of value on another drive, including the program data that you need to keep, and do a fresh reinstall of the OS. Alternatively, you can try to do a system restore if you have not turned off that option, I'm pretty sure revert8plus will create one for you when you first install it.

Another thing you can do is try to fix it with /sfc scannow in Powershell
Type these commands one by one and it will attempt to fix any registry bugs that you have
Code: Select all
DISM /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
sfc /scannow

Re: Should I Risk this Reset?
Also if you are like Daniele63 and have 6tb or some other big amount of storage, you could simply back up your entire C:\ drive instead of just important files…
