When people online talk about an alleged decline of the internet, they mostly place it at the beginning of the 2010s, while others place it at the middle or even at the end of the decade. When do you think the internet as a whole started declining and why? I'm eager to hear your opinions because I really want to know exactly how and why the internet doesn't feel the same to some users, given that I don't know much about how it was in the past.

ngl i read this with an avgn voice and now i want to see avgn do a video on the modern internet
I'd say 2010 was the beginning of the decline, since that was when most of the people who were still on MySpace jumped ship and started flocking to Facebook (blegh) and was around when social networking sites (mostly Facebook) started to look like the social "media" sites you see today with the introduction of algorithms, not to mention that Instagram was created that year as well.
It was a slow, gradual decline from there into the sad state of the web you see today 15 years later.
So here I am, it's in my hands, and I'll savor every moment of this...

When people started prioritisng likes and validation by numbers less than the joy of creating something entirely new, creativity is dead and so is the motivation to even open a website or hell try and make one of your own. I've seen this not only in the writing and art community but everyone in general and it sucks, what happened to having a hobby because you like it?
