Found by chance these promotional wallpapers still hosted in a corner of Vaio JP website ! This laptop is the PCG-QR3E/BP model from 2002 (released in February 2002), from the Vaio QR serie

A4ファイルサイズノート。初期型のQR1系列は光沢のあるブラックの筺体でアルミのハンドルが付いたバッグをイメージさせる形状、後期型のQR3系列は光沢のあるホワイトの筺体でディスプレイの左右に直接接続できるスピーカーを有する形状と、特徴あるデザインを採用している。両系列とも本体と共通するデザインのマウスカバーが付属し、VAIO純正オプションのマウス(当時発売モデル)に装着できる。性能面からはエントリーモデル。

This does remind me, Microsoft seemed to have a hand with Sony Vaio as they appear quite frequently during the development on Windows Longhorn.
