I'm sure there's some way to still do it, but I bet it would require some weird technical stuff like changing the location of your Linux boot partition, or something similarly exotic.
you forgot to mention blood sacrifices and a ritual Linux dance. /j
but if seriously, thanks for the advice! i've tried Linux Mint live preview once, and kinda liked it. also i know if i'd go into full paranoid (either in medical sense or not) mode, i could use Tails then
TBH, I think you should play with Tails. It's super useful when there are cases where you don't trust the OS on the hardware you're using and don't have access to your own stuff. When I am at hotels with business centers/computers, I boot into Tails to make sure there are no traces of what I did on that computer. Being able to read the data off the Windows volume is just a bonus. I have it on a teensie USB drive that I keep on my keychain.
I guess it's also a fun trick to show off at parties
Honestly? Windows 11 isn't THAT bad as people say. I have Windows 11 IoT LTSC 2024 and it doesn't have any AI bloatware AT ALL! (Edge is easily removable, by the way!) Plus, I actually customize it with Windhawk, DWMBlurGlass, Rainmeter... etc etc etc, so it isn't that bad at least for me. Compared to W10? It's inferior, yeah, but I would say is more a nostalgia factor other than being actually "better".
Linux still needs to polish some things in my point of view, like good compatibility with Adobe programs and other Windows stuff like VSTs. Honestly, isn't the time to change to Linux yet, I would wait for updates that can polish the compatibility with Windows apps and other stuff.
So a couple of months after Windows 10 was discontinued, I've switched to Linux Mint and made it look pretty close to my ideal frutiger aero aesthetic. I do still have to boot into Windows 10, but it is quite rare. So yeah I'd advise switching to a Linux distro if you're on LTSC IoT Enterprise
im not moving to windows 11 anytime soon,,, stuff is too expensive for me to get a new pc
I might move to linux by some point for safety but for now no
I'm still on Windows 10 for now and refuse to downgrade my laptop to Windows 11 (it's already bad enough that I unfortunately have to use it at work). I plan to eventually run a dual boot of Linux from a USB flash drive for more important stuff (I have a lot of software installed on my laptop that only works with Windows, mostly older CD-ROM games that only support Windows).
If I had things my way though, I'd be using a laptop that comes with Windows 7 preinstalled and run the dual boot of Linux on that.
I seriously need to go through all of my files and clear up enough space to be able to run a virtual machine of 7 as well.
So here I am, it's in my hands, and I'll savor every moment of this...
