I've heard a story that the original inventor of the GIF said it's pronounced "jif" near the end of his life, but I have no idea if this is actually real or just some silly myth.

I searched it up, it seems it is indeed pronounced "jif" :sign_search:

I get the argument that it's *graphical* not *jraphical* but I heard so many people pronounce it that way and I pronounced it that way so many times that I'm too used to it now.
Also yeah the creator said it's jif so it's canon.
