Re: What do you think of retro styled tech?

Re: What do you think of retro styled tech?
Most of retro themed stuff focuses too much on the 'low-res quality' aspect. Like way too much. I have a Finepix S2980 from June 2012 (Im considering updating to something from 2013 or 15) and its probably much better then a crummy retro digicam from Kmart

Re: How did everyone come here for the first time?
I just thought about Frutiger Aero after stumbling across a playlist of Frutiger Aero songs on Spotify, which opened a whole can of worms in nostalgia. Basically just made me look up Frutiger Aero on the web and instantly found the Frutiger Aero Archives website. Started off chatting on XAT from the ...

Re: The fear of Nostalgia Weaponization
this is what i like to call the “old thing good, new thing bad” mentality, and having it means giving up many things in life
That's true but there are some old things I genuinely find to be better than newer things. Like for example I been learning Unreal Editor for Unreal Tournament 1999 ...

Re: The fear of Nostalgia Weaponization
oh, of course, i’m not saying that ALL old things are bad. some old things are indeed better. in fact, i bet paying for a CD copy of an old version of photoshop would be a better investment than getting an adobe creative cloud subscription at this point
but, there are lots of new technologies that ...

Re: The fear of Nostalgia Weaponization
iirc all the advertising about that Plants Vs. Zombies "remaster" was nothing but nostalgia bait about 2009.
REMEMBER THAT GAME YOU PLAYED AS A KID????? HERE'S THE SAME THING BUT CRAPPY, EASIER AND WATERED DOWN!!!!!!!!

Re: what's something from the 2000s that you want to see again?
A fun chaotic internet, a weird sense of mystery and frontier on the internet, and of course FLIP PHONES (i know they still have them but FLIP PHONES.)
Theres other things heres a more weird and personal one.
When I was younger a lot of the shit I had, watched, and played with was old like in ~2017 ...
