i'm personally not a fan bc they're only able to have apps that connect to the internet
which means they dont have as many programs as windows, macos or even linux
plus i kinda hate google as a company
but i do think it has certain use-cases like if you're really worried about you or someone else accidentally screwing up your computer, or you don't need many apps and are fine with the google ecosystem

i think if its just for work thats online or you just need something a laptop that connects to the internet and nothing more, it's alright
i just dont like how it's replaced windows computers in schools cause now there are a ton of people who just practically have no computer literacy skills cause of how much it removes features and dumbs down stuff
as a base to teach to kids basic navigation, it's ok, but anything more, meh

Terrible. Horrendous. Absolute spite of the earth and the worlds under it. Now if you hack it up and maybe swap the OS out, then maybe they'd be about as good as any regular laptop. But even then, absolutely not. You're best bet tbh is a System76 laptop.
Generally the only good things I can possibly imagine a Chromebook doing is pretty much everything you can already do with an Android tablet if I'm being really honest here.

at best, chromebooks are laptop-shaped smartphones that dont do calls. at worst:
they're tolerable for internet browsing and making documents, but horrible for anything else. I still can't believe these things came from the same company that gave us
android. Even android can be decent for creative apps/programs (capcut comes to mind). On a chromebook, decent sites and "programs" for creative use are FAR and FEW between. Do I DARE discuss the horrid state of chromebook video editing?
off topic but who the HELL spends more than $500 on a chromebook. i've seen chromebooks on sale in the 1k price range!!!

I think they're like those ultra mini laptops that existed back in the mid 2010s. They're really fun toys if you want to do little hacky things like install Linux on it to see what it can do. However, my enjoyment of Chromebooks is highly biased. I used to dumpster dive for old electronics and found a Chromebook with a shattered screen but otherwise in good shape. I replaced the screen and it was perfect, so of course I was all for a $40 Chromebook. Based on that price, I had a heck of a good time.
These days I think they don't really have a place, even the more high-end ones. If anyone's bored, you can install ChromeOS onto a computer to get an idea what it's like. I could definitely see it being great in a kiosk kind of setting, but it's not too practical otherwise.

Garbage. Not good for anything. Clunky, ugly and barely any apps
