Does it make it feel too much like Reddit? I think I'll disable them for now, let me know your thoughts.

I'm personally a fan of the like button. But if it feels too much like Reddit, then I guess getting rid of it wouldn't be so bad.

I personally don't think it's like Reddit at all

i can see where he’s coming from, though. a lot can go wrong when users are posting online just for internet points rather than to have a meaningful conversation

I don't think it's like Reddit upvotes too, I think likes is a great way to "communicate" when you saw a post and you liked it. Personally I often use likes when I'm checking the forum on my way to work everyday, I don't really get the time to reply but I still appreciate reading the threads and posts, and showing it by likes

That's the thing, if you can't put a like you're more inclined to write an actual answer instead, even if it's later. And when you don't receive any likes, there's a possibility that you'll interpret it as your post being bad (I'm just saying that could happen to someone). Overall I want to reduce the "social media" feeling and make the focus be primarily on discussions, for me the like button is a distraction from that goal.
I also went on some other forums to see how things run and there were no like system on any of them.

It's up to you to decide, we're just sharing our point of view about it
