Hey Daniele I went and put fences under your garden, Minecraft Beta has a quirk where putting fences underneath farmed grass won't make it turn back to regular dirt whenever you walk over it.

Just know: Java > Bedrock, Bedrock is the crappy AAA microtransaction version. But Java Edition lacks optimization, which leads to lag.
For mods, depends, modern versions use Fabric, older use Forge, but idk about Beta and earlier.
If you decide to play modern Minecraft, go to Resource Packs, then enable Developer Art by hovering over it and clicking the arrow.

I tried in 1.7.3, but it didn't work either (It told me that the server was off), so I tried to do what Voda did but this happen this time
