i don’t really know what you mean. if you meant “the end of the ‘fun technology’ era”, than maybe. but with all due respect, this doomer mentality of “everything sucks now” is getting tiresome. you know why? because while everything made by massive tech corporations does indeed suck now, it’s the opposite for products by independent creators. they’re out there, and they’ve been very successful. so not all hope is lost

- Added a scroll box on the Smilies that are on the right when you are writing a post
- When you are writing a post and close your window accidentally your post will be saved in local storage so you don't lose it
- You can now click the header to go back to index
- You can now delete your account from the control panel
- Added a copyright text on the bottom of the page
- You can now browse someone's topics on their profile
- Flags show on Index (top 20 countries)
- Added a gender profile field
- Replies to text more than 15 lines (by default) will now be collapsed with a button to show the full thing, this can also be configured or disabled in the control panel.

i think artifical "intelligence" is overhyped. a lot of the things it does, it does poorly. i sometimes wonder if the only reason why it's popular among ceos is that they want a completely obediant "employee" to boss around

picom isn't working right cause there's a bug in the newest xorg-server package on most distros that causes the nvidia driver to not load properly on some machines, and im waiting for a fix. in the meantime im using xfce since it's less buggy with software rendering than picom is.

People keep mentioning the phones. I strongly agree here, specifically their software/visual layout. I've been dying to get my hands on a functioning Sony Ericsson or what have you (I've unsuccessfully tried multiple times to revive the one that was given to me as a kid, which I did nothing with but write dumb notes and take pictures of whatever ancient version of Minecraft I was playing at the time.) Maybe it's just me liking to decorate tiny, cramped little spaces, but to me that almost transitional-to-smartphones look on a tiny screen feels so personal and comfortable. Also, the way they slid and the way the buttons felt was much more pleasant than constantly dirtying up a screen with your fingers lol

By extension, I miss blackberries. All my family members had these fucking things when I was a kid, but I never see them anymore. Honestly? I'd use one as my personal phone if I could.

Spikelets, kandi, loom bands, rubber bracelets, robo dogs, usable cameras, teen friendly spaces (nephews are always stuck inside) and probably less cars. I have my reasoning for some of this but it can mostly be summerised as "all my friends have incredibly depressed younger siblings or i see kids acting like adults"

Hello there,

I'm writing this to both ask for some help and offer my skills as a service. I’ve been learning how Aero and the Windows' DWM work together, and how old apps used to be built to take advantage of those effects and visuals. Since a lot of apps today are just Electron or weird HTML wrappers, I thought: why not make some proper old-school Windows apps for older Windows versions and with the nice aero visuals? :helpsos:

I'm currently unemployed, so I’m offering to build some programs for free, with optional donations. This would help me pay some bills, and anyone who contributes can have their name included somewhere in the software’s support board — still figuring out how I’ll set that up. I’m considering using Itch.io as the platform. Suggestions on how I should develop these apps or how to make a bit of money with this are very welcome.

Requirements:

If the app needs an API, it has to be public and accessible. Reverse-engineering APIs takes forever and needs ongoing maintenance; :macintosh:

The simpler the idea, the better and faster I can build it. The more complex it gets, the further down the list it goes. Some ideas might never even get finished; :cyan_angel:

No NSFW or piracy requests, please, the same rules for the forum applies to the requests; :yellow_nono:

The code will be open-source, so if anyone wants to keep the development after, it will be public out there. (Except if you want a commercial software, mail me if you have anything in mind!) :thumbsup:

I'm aware that theres already a topic on this, but it's from september and I doubt will be seen if I just reply.
I was thinking if you guys added themes, but instead of just basic colors, add the option to use the themes from the FAArchive. I think it would allow for users to not only have a sense of familiarity with the home site (if that is the home site :orange_crybaby: ), but also boost the sites engagement. I also just really want the teto theme from the FAArchive to be available to use on here lol.
