i hate to admit it, but i have to “disable” liquid glass by activating reduced transparency effects. it’s been a real battery drain on my devices. i can see where the critics of windows vista’s performance were coming from now

I can relate fully. My relationship with the internet as a whole is shaky to say the least. Like many people out there, I've started using the internet at a pretty young age. I remember spending a lot of time watching YouTube videos on my PS3 and on my 2DS, most of them were pretty "mature" and weren't something that a little kid like me should've watched. Part of me thinks this very early exposure to the internet had a somewhat negative impact on me, but not to a worrying degree. But IMO things got worse in 2021, because that's when I started fully submerging myself into internet "culture".
I was a smartphone addict, so I started spending more and more time on the web generally swallowing whatever I stumbled upon. That included brain-melting memes and crappy video essay about pointless internet drama and some events that normal people wouldn't care about. The result was that my brain became filled with stupid shit and I couldn't go one second without spewing incoherent amalgams of stupid slang words. This peaked in 2023 when I joined Reddit. I acted like a total clown because I though that I was the funniest guy in the world, saying everything that came to my mind and sometimes acting in a confrontational way. Add that to the fact that I felt the constant need to check for notifications and having a habit to doom-scroll without me noticing. Then I realized the error of my ways and soon decided to limit my smart-phone use to just 3 or 2 times a day, no more than a couple of minutes.

That does help a bit, but there are still times where I feel extremely bored and wanting to pick up my phone, even though I know damn well that I will end up scrolling aimlessly between the same 3 apps every time. My obsessive use of it has led me to have trouble in concentrating at doing any sort of activity, especially playing video games. I plan on getting a dumb phone in the future, they're more appealing to me.

I'd have sections in the cafe based on different themes, for example, Helvetica Aero may be overrated or too popular, but I'd like an Aurora area, because that's cool looking, or maybe DORFic too!.

And depending on the location ofc, I probably wouldn't be able to come by, but if I did, I wouldn't identify as V.Voda, as I'd like to keep anonymity!

For drinks, use plastic/glass cups. It'd look pretty aero. :yellow_smile:

It's half broken at the moment but if you want to test and suggest things, select "experimental (wip)" on the theme selector in the top navbar, and click the paintbrush icon to go to the dark theme (I will remove the other color options later for this theme).

Something I just thought of was REAL hacking. Aside from Defcon events these days, hacking culture was a lot more fun and it was closer to its actual roots: making electronic devices do cool stuff they weren't intended to. There was also dumb fun stuff like salting vending machines, using dial up networking tricks to bump people off the internet, writing Javascript functions that made your computer automatically open up your CD-ROM tray by itself. The internet was less security conscious so it was also easier to learn how to try some of the more blackhat stuff like hacking e-mail accounts using easily acquired personal data (Yahoo was particularly easy), blind SQL injections attacks, and war dialing and port scanning were basically unknown and easy to do. Nowadays it seems like the closest thing I can get to that is attacking direct print printers to print out warnings about how they need to secure their printers.

Phreaking was still a thing since pay phones still existed. I enjoyed sticking it to Ma Bell by using hacked tone dialers (the old phone systems in the 90s/early 2000s used tones to verify you inserted coins, so you could simulate the tones for coin inserts and button presses so you could make free calls and be kind of invisible). Unfortunately later (I think) they changed the tones, but eventually they just muted the line when dialing or inserting coins and that killed it.
